On Saturday, February 15, 2020, Helen and I drove the '66 Shelby to Shelby's old HQ in Gardena, California. We were attending an event portrayed as a celebration of the launch of the Ford vs Ferrari 4K UHD, DVD, Blu-ray and Digital.
The event's activites were listed as:
Meet & Greet with FORD v FERRARI Stunt Drivers
Winner’s Circle Champagne Photo Op
Virtual Reality Pit Crew Experience
Cars From the Film
What was not noted in the marketing items was this facility is also the home of the Original Venice Crew (OVC) where the Crew continues to build G.T. 350 R-models. I also suspected there'd be a few dignitaries from back in the day...and we weren't disappointed. I also knew there'd be numerous LA Shelby Club members attending.
In my view, the best part of the event were the people and the cars.
First, a few 'movie cars'...
There was also a very nice assortment of Shelbys and Cobras and GT40s, largely from the LA Shelby Club and Superformance/Hillbank.
The reddish hue of this Cobra photo below was cast by the adjacent red Corvette...
Then there was this hand-built V-12 Ferrari, resplendent in aluminum, leather, Webers, and rivets sitting next to a GT40.
...and a few more cars...
A (modern) gorgeous red Slabside...
Then, a beautiful Superformance GT40.
What a nice Show. And the turnout was terrific!
Superb photos John - That looks to have been a great day out!
