One Day—Two Shows

Yesterday, the Daytona debuted at two really nice car shows. The first show was in Rolling Hills Estates on the top of the parking deck of The Promenade on the Peninsula Mall. This show is sponsored by PelicanParts (www.pelicanparts.com), a parts company that caters to European sports cars.

The turnout was terrific (about 100 cars), with many brands and types represented. The show starts at 7AM and concludes at 9AM. I'd say the predominant brands were Porsches and BMWs, however, there was a terrific variety of cars. There's a Starbucks nearby, so you can call this one Coffee & Cars with Pelican Parts!

It was also nice to see a very well-preserved Pantera at the show. But that's not all that showed up:

Russ D's GT3 RS 4.0...

A brand new Ferrari

A brand new Alfa Romea 8C...

And, a Lotus 7

Next, up the road a bit to Manhattan Beach, to the Mira Costa High School show, called the Manhattan Beach Festival of Motoring Show. This show is organized and coordinated entirely by a very small team of Mira Costa students, namely Connor Wohl & Aidan Nesicolaci.

What's really remarkable about these two young men and their team is how professional they are. This show represents careful planning, coordination and organization skills and this team has those in spades! They welcome you by name, they provide a ready-made professional placard for your car, they carefully help you park. These gentlemen have thought of every thing; you are also provided restroom facilties, trash receptacles, tables & chairs, a bit of shade, and a few food trucks for refresments and gastro delights. Turnout was about 100 cars and an eclectic mix it was!

And just for fun, here's a few more of the cars on display:

John H.'s replica G.T. 350...

A Chevron racer...

This show gets an earmark on my calendar, anytime!
